Jasmine Pulley Humboldt Park Apartment Living Room Tour Vintage Midcentury Modern Style -1

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I’m so excited to bring this “living room in progress tour” to you all. If you follow me at all on instagram, then this room probably looks pretty familiar to you, but I thought it would be a good time to finally show a 360 to those that are interested. If you are like me and always in nesting mode, always changing things up and decorating, then sure, a place never feels totally finished. But this room has brought so much joy to me that I figured, why not share the progress and show you what I’ve done and what I plan on doing!

I said to Jason a few nights ago how excited I get in this apartment to wake up in the morning. I already frequently get excited as I get into bed and I start to think about my morning cup of coffee. (Does anyone else do that???) But I can’t remember the last time I have just been excited to wake up and start a new day! Jason said he thinks a lot of that has to do with how inviting this room is to wake up to. The light is just incredible. I’m really not trying to brag, if anything I empathize with anyone who has a dark home. For the entire last year when we lived in Washington, it could be 80 degrees and sunny outside and you would think it was 20 degrees and snowing by the inside of our apartment. It was really depressing and I think totally affected our mood and happiness at home. Needless to say, this home has already been a breath of fresh air and I am so excited to share it with our friends and family.

    “Tacolicious” book review

This might be a little known fact about me…but tacos are my favorite food group…I mean, food. Yeah, you know what I mean.

If I invite you over for dinner, chances are at some point, I will make you tacos. I’m not talking the old school hard shell taco with American cheese and store bought salsa though. I mean the good stuff: soft, warm (wheat free!!!!) corn tortillas, with freshly seasoned shredded meats, and delicious, exploding in your mouth homemade salsas to go with.

You can imagine my excitement when I found Tacolicious up for review on Blogging for books!

This book did not disappoint! In addition to having plenty of mouth watering taco recipes, there were sections for sides and appetizers, cocktails to go with your Mexican feast, and lots of made from scratch salsa recipes to try. I’m really looking forward to upping my game with some of the salsa recipes actually, since they call for roasting or broiling your own peppers before blending them. Not that difficult actually, but hey, it sounds fancy! And I loooooove salsas!

I also really enjoyed the bits of history and background that author Sara Deseran provided about the restaurant she and her husband started, from which the book received it’s namesake. It was neat to read about their love of authentic Mexican food as well as the country, and how they really try to honor traditional Mexican cuisine through various avenues.

Lastly, the photography game was on point. There wasn’t a photo for every recipe, which is always a teensy bit of a bummer for me because I so love visualizing food before I make it, but they made up for it with a unique blend of photojournalistic/ lifestyle behind the scenes shots of their restaurant and the dishes themselves.

The book was beautifully made and I am so glad to add it to my arsenal!

I was sent this book to review by Blogging for Books.

      Commercial Shoot for Finex Cookware

Fall Finex Shoot 12 and 8 -Jasmine Pulley-54

About a month ago I was sent some cookware from Finex USA to try out and photograph a couple recipes in. As a recent convert to cast iron myself, I was pretty pleased with the product and the results! Pictured here are two cornish game hens roasted with herbs and apples, and a mini apple tartlette. The perfect fall meal for two :)

well read // Martha Stewart’s “One Pot” Review

I recently started blogging for books and of course, my first book would be a cookbook.

And what fun would a cookbook review be without some delicious food photography? I’ve had Martha’s book for one week and already made three recipes. I guess you can say I’m a fan.

Pictured here are her pork chops in a skillet recipe. We absolutely devoured them last night, the lemon zest was everything!

DIY // hand stamped business cards

hand stamped business cards | wildlyspun blog | images by Jasmine Pulley -2

As a creative, I feel just a tiny bit cheated when asked for a business card. How am I supposed to adequately explain what I do within the confines of this little 2.5″ by 2.5″ square, or better yet, how do I convince you that it will be worth your time to go check out my work? Let’s be honest. How many times does a business card you receive end up sitting in your wallet for weeks ignored, and then eventually the trash?
